books, bags and teddy bears

my louis vuitton totally azur (mm size) has been such a great bag. practical for everyday, low maintenance, carries a ton but weighs nothing. i've used it every day since i bought it.
at first the vachette shoulder straps were very light and stiff, but after a few months, the vachette is starting to turn (patina), and the straps are much more soft and flexible, love it.
the rose colored teddy bear is a steiff original, made in germany, limited edition bear - 1,925 pieces worldwide to pay tribute to the original 'rose bear' made in 1925. this bear is so special (to me) and steiff collectors worldwide because of it's history.
in the mid 1920's, pink dye was hard to make and so the rose tint is the "pink" of the times (1920's); the stuffing is kalpak (spell?) - very lightweight material (like lifting air) - and the first time steiff used this material for stuffing rather than wood shavings.
my teddy bear pictured, i've named "rose bear", was purchased by me at the steiff trunk show last month (may). numbered 00849 of 1925 pieces. will be treasured forever.
anyway, just thought i'd share.

empty whiskey bottles?

(pic credit by k)
so, a friend and i had gone to this antique store right across from palo alto's anthro, and found these mini whiskey bottles. they appeared to be decades old since at the very bottom of the bottle there are traces of dried up liquor. guess how much each bottle is being sold for? ten dollar$ each! is that crazy? so we came up with the conclusion that this is a hobby hoarders store, and not really an antique store, since the other items for sale were pretty questionable (think headless mini dolls at $15 per headless body, and a bowl full of old miniature dollheads for $5 per head?!). yeah. pretty scary right? bwahahh!

cd mix.

have you watched novel turned movie bridge to terabithia? the 2007 movie version? the teacher, played by zooey deschanel, is one of two who makes up the band she & him. love them!

good press, bad press, i don't really care. i lOve britney spears and her music!!steve and i are lOving unusual you (which is pretty impressive since steve detests mostly all of britney spears' music.) then again, the song has a lot of new order, the band, influences. o_0 listen to unusual you here: click me.
nothing to say. they leave me speechless. :D
chuck introduced me to the script (thnx chuck!!) listen to one of their songs here: click.
the radio dept. the only reason why the marie antoinette movie (with kirsten dunst) is worth watching. asides from the period costumes, that is. listen to radio dept here: click.
...the whole eminem vs. mariah debacle has got to be the funniest thing ever! it's old, yeah. but still, it's funny as hell.
^ never cared for him much. still don't. but i do like the song drop the world featuring eminem :D
^ he's got pretty cool msgs., though in some cases, not. but for the most part, yeah. he's pretty cool.Monday, April 12, 2010

Lost at Sea

(k8, jason, justin at my local to me beach. me, behind lens, lost at sea)
"maggie and millie and molly and may"
maggie and millie and molly and may
went down to the beach (to play one day)
and maggie discovered a shell that sang
so sweetly she couldn't remember her troubles,
and millie befriended a stranded star
who's rays five languid fingers were;
and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles:
and may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.
For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea.”
- E. E. Cummings (American poet 1894-1962)
