why disney?

history has a funny way about things. usually, when people hear walt disney's name thrown around, they instantly think mickey mouse, and therefore think it's only for kids, babies or in the case of my dad, "cartoons". and sadly tunes out..

i just finished reading a character biography on walt disney, and my favorite quote in that book is, "i have one foot in the past & one foot in the future."

i guess you have to have an appreciation for disneyland resort and history to understand what walt disney meant by that. basically, it's about how he came upon the idea to build the different themes inside of disney park. fantasyland inside the magic kingdom (disneyland) was based on his own childhood days. snow white & the 7 dwarfs was a classic book walt disney had read as a child and it was his favorite story, so he turned it into the first disney cartoon (without mickey) around dec. 21, 1937. it is why as you enter fantasyland, you enter through sleeping beauty's castle, and the architecture of fantasyland looks like the snow white & 7 dwarfs movie comes to life.

tomorrowland, inside disneyland, is constantly being updated based on the future and the present is always catching up to the future, so tomorrowland seems to never be completed. it's just interesting. his ideas, inspiration, his morals tied in with his dreams.

i wanted to read walt disney's biography because i was hoping to find the answer to why i still lOve disneyland-even as an adult! it's one of the things i guess that keeps me mentally aged forever 9.
anyway, now there's closure. i know now. it's in the book. it's the history, an era frozen in time...a place of nostalgia.

born in...

yesteryear? i thought this image was interesting. vintage meets new technology. scary. i think i was born in the wrong era. even though i am pretty computer literate. does that make me a hypocrite? hope not. i guess i just prefer things old fashioned. still hate the cell, still only on for emergencies; still prefer writing letters via airmail vs. email but at the same time can't live w/out email.. what would you call that? hrrRRM. obviously love following my fave blogs & checking into my favorite websites daily, or weekly if anything. unless if on vacation. but still, image below is interesting, don't you think?

well still. let's leave it as walt disney once said, "i've got one foot in the past & one foot in the future."
(more on that later. stay tuned.)
